A unifying event in Faubourg Contrecœur
On August 10, the Carlos-d’Alcantara Park located in the heart of Faubourg Contrecoeur welcomed hundreds of people to a free outdoor movie. Popcorn and beverages accompanied the screening of the animation film Up, while a huge bouquet of 1,000 balloons decorated the entrance of the site.
A tale of the adventures and friendship of a 78 year old man and a young boy, the film was selected by Le Groupe Maurice, promoter of the event, to announce the launching of Station Est, a residential complex for seniors.
Currently under construction on De Contrecoeur Street, the Station Est residential project is part of the continuing development of the Faubourg Contrecoeur which was initiated in 2008 by the Société d’habitation et de développement de Montréal (SHDM). The Accès Condos program welcomes the developments announced in the neighbourhood as evidence of the leverage effect of the Accès Condos accredited residential projects. The opening of a pharmacy and a restaurant has been announced, in addition to the possible development of a commercial district, north of Sherbrooke Street.
Note that Accès Condos accredited Phase 5 of the Faubourg Contrecoeur development will be launched in early 2017 and will be followed by the last phase (phase 6) in 2018.
